    About Us

    1.1          Introduction

    Glenkeir Whiskies Limited trades as The Whisky Shop in the UK and in France. We have numerous retail shops across the UK, one in Paris and we are online at whiskyshop.com.  We are specialist retailers of whiskies, other premium spirits and liqueurs.  In addition, we publish a quarterly magazine, Whiskeria, in which we feature new and existing whiskies and provide comment and guidance to readers and prospective purchasers.  We also run a customer club, The W Club, that provides for its members a range of benefits including discounts in store and online, free whisky tastings, our magazine, an online auction, a subscription service and special members-only whiskies.  Our mantra is “unlocking the mystery of whisky”.  By that we aim to un-complicate the apparently complicated, speak plain language and deliver excellent service to our customers.

     

    The prosperity of our business and of the communities within which we operate requires a commitment to corporate social responsibility, especially in relation to alcohol.  We use our best endeavours to adhere to the principles and practices set out below.

    1.2          Sale of Alcohol

    As purveyors of alcohol, we are acutely aware of the harm that alcohol can cause if not sold and consumed in a responsible way. Our staff receive training on the liquor licencing regulations relevant to each store’s jurisdiction and each store has a qualified licence holder.  We comply with all liquor licencing laws and we take care not to sell directly or indirectly to persons under the legal age

    We are aware of the potentially harmful effects of selling alcohol to individuals before 10.00 hours and after 21.00 hours of the day and we seek to limit our shop opening hours accordingly. We do not operate a discount selling strategy and we do not indulge in multi-buy offers.  We regularly stress the benefits of drinking less but drinking better.
