anCnoc Flaughter Peated description
In 2004 the Distillery set about creating a heavily peated spirit in homage to the malt's peaty origins. And thus the limited edition Peaty range was borne each taking their name from Peat cutting tools. The Flaughter spade is used to remove the top layer of peat which is richer and more rooty and this gives a smokier flavour to the whisky.
AnCnoc (pronounced 'a-nock') defies convention as it is Gaelic for the nearby Knock Hill. This is unusual as most distilleries are named after the distillery. The name of the distillery is Knockdhu which comes from the Gaelic 'cnoc Dubh' meranig 'black hill'. The distillery although on the border of Speyside is a Highland whisky.
