Macallan Decades - Thirties Description
Part of the Travel Series from The Macallan recreating the distillery style of each decade from the 1920s to the 1950s, this expression is presented as a 50cl bottle. The 1930s saw coal supplies fall due to increasing industrial activity so the distillery reverted to drying barley with peat fires. At the same time sherry casks became harder to source due to the Spanish Civil War. The Macallan Master Distiller, David Robertson, sought to recreate that style by matching samples of 1930s bottles to more recent distillations. Back to top
