Karuizawa distillery was founded in 1955 where the distillery was 850m above sea level making it the highest in Japan. It was then, unfortunately, mothballed in 2000, with it later being completely demolished in 2016. This expression was distilled in 1984 and matured for nearly three decades in an Oloroso sherry butt and was bottled at cask strength free from chill filtration and colouring in 2014 for the Norweigan and Swedish markets.
