Arran 1995 24 Year Old Single Cask #217 - The Whisky Shop Description

This single cask expression from Arran's eponymous distillery has been specially selected and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Shop as part of The 1995 Collection, celebrating the distillery's founding.

Distilled in November 1995 and matured in a single cask (#1995/217) for almost a quarter of a century, this expression was bottled in January 2020 at a strength of 51.7% abv. Just 294 bottles have been produced, each one presented in a beautiful trapezoidal bottle.

Fun fact: 1995 was the year Doddie scored two tries against NZ in a quarter-final match of the Rugby World Cup in South Africa.

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

This bottle has been kindly donated by David Ferguson of Arran.

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
