Auchentoshan 1966 44 Year Old Description

Auchentoshan 1966 is an impressive new release from the Glasgow distillery, with just 263 bottles available worldwide. This expression was made by maturing their triple distilled spirit on 25th April 1966 in North American oak barrels for a whopping 44 years before bottling on 20th January 2011.

From Edrington-Beam Suntory:

“A whisky aficionado’s dream, sent to sleep in 1966 and lovingly drawn from the cask in 2011, this vintage, triple-distilled delight delivers all the hallmarks of the Glaswegian malt, famous for its smooth, yet gutsy, flavour profile. Much like the city it grew up in, Auchentoshan – or ‘Auchie’ as it is affectionately known – prides itself on being aggressively welcoming. Showcased in a polished wood box with striking brush aluminium front and back, even the presentation of this immensely collectable whisky is anything but traditional." An exceptional vintage whisky for celebrating great moments!

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

This bottle has been kindly donated by Nick Temperley of Edrington-Beam Suntory.

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
