Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask 2020 Release Description

Distilled at The Macallan in Speyside, this annual release single malt Scotch is matured in a combination of American and European oak casks. The Macallan brings American oak to Spain, where their bespoke casks are hand-crafted and filled with dry Oloroso sherry. Once seasoned, these casks are shipped to Scotland to be filled with new make spirit from The Macallan stills.

After 18 years, the Whisky Mastery Team set about combining spirit from both types of cask to create a balanced, warm, and sweet single malt. The result is The Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask, bottled at 43% abv and presented at natural colour, with all of its amber honey hue coming from the oak casks.

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
