Glenfiddich 40 Year Old Description

This is the 16th release of Glenfiddich's series of incredible 40-year-old whiskies, released each year with limited bottles available per release.

Our featured Glenfiddich 40 Year Old was bottled in 2019, having been previously vatted from a selection of casks chosen by the distillery’s Malt Master, as well as the saved remnants of previous year's 40 Year Old vatting. This continuous process is known as "remnant vatting" and contains whiskies that are at the very least, 40 years old. Glenfiddich is the only single malt Scotch whisky in the industry to use remnant vatting.

As a result, its uniquely rich and deep flavour was voted the "Best of the Best" single malt by Whisky Magazine in 2003, collected the Trophy at both the ISC and the IWSC in 2008 (the first time any whisky has won both in the same year) and Best Single Malt at the ISC in 2010.

The elegant bottle is offered in a handsome presentation case of the finest, hand-stitched calf-leather with embossed print work and an intricately designed lock and key.

Incredibly complex with notes of fruit cake, dates, raisins and stewed apples, this dram is great for those seeking an exceptional, silky smooth and luxurious taste.

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

This bottle has been kindly donated by William Grant & Sons.

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
