Hanyu 2000 Single Cask #1305 Ichiro's Malt Card 5 of Diamonds Description
Founded in 1941 by Isouji Akuto, Hanyu distillery was located in the north west of Tokyo in Saitama prefecture. Producing single malt whiskies from the 1980s, the distillery stopped production in 2000 before being dismantled in 2004 with the remaining stocks being recovered and purchased by Ichiro Akuto - the founders grandson. This series of card bottlings were created with each release having a playing card on the label to encourage people to collect the whole range of bottlings. The 5 of hearts bottling was distilled in the year 2000 and was matured in oak for around 12 years, firstly in an oak hogshead before being transferred for further maturation to an ex-sherry butt. Part of a limited release of 652 bottles, this whisky was bottled free from chill filtration and artificial colourings, at a strength of 57.7% abv. Back to top
