This Speyside single malt is part of the much anticipated BenRiach single cask batch release. Distilled from peated malt barley in July 1994 and matured in a Marsala wine cask for 24 years, this expression has been bottled in 2019 at a natural strength of 51.8% abv. Just 299 bottles have been produced.
The nose has apricot and honey with eucalyptus leaf and roast chestnut atop a savoury spice. The palate brings barbecue notes of apricot and root beer with blackcurrant and beeswax. The finish is sweetly smoky with apricot and cherry stone notes lingering.
