Big news from Benromach, this is none other than its first annual batch of Benromach 40 Years Old Single Malt Whisky. Taking on the mantle of officially being the oldest expression in Benromach’s line up, this is a knockout punch from the traditional Speyside distillery. Bottled at a cask strength 57.1% abv, this was laid down in 1981 and spent its maturation in the finest first fill Oloroso sherry casks. A deep amber colour, this is a release of only 1,047 bottles. And believe us when we say that when its gone, its gone!
The nose has a rich ginger quality, accompanied by notes of stewed orchard fruits. The palate has hints of Seville orange, red apple, and brown sugar. Expect a sensational finish, full to the rafters with citrus zest, charred oak, and a spicy zing.
