Our Arran roadshow was a huge success, with guests sampling five superb whiskies from the growing Lochranza distillery on the Isle of Arran. The tasting included the oldest release in Arran's core range to date, an impressive 21-year old. Throughout October, Arran began the tastings at our London Paternoster store and made their way north through Oxford, Nottingham, Trentham Gardens, Manchester, York and Edinburgh, before concluding the roadshow in Inverness.

Although all of the attendees will feel lucky to have sampled the excellent selection with Arran, by far the luckiest was Andrew, who bagged the above three-bottle jackpot after coming along to our York store tasting. We asked him a few questions about his big win:

Fran: What was your favourite whisky that you tasted on the night?

Andrew: My favourite whisky that I tasted on the night was the Bothy Quarter Cask. I bought a bottle and it’s been even better at home.

Fran: Were you an Arran fan before the event?

Andrew: Not really. I’ve had the whisky before but it wasn’t one I spent a lot of time on. The island however, I'm a big fan. I spent most of my childhood holidays in Fairlie and visited Arran quite a bit.

Fran: Did you try any expressions you hadn’t tried before on the night?

Andrew: Yes, almost all of them. They were all good. The sherry cask was really good but I prefer the bothy.

Fran: If you had to choose one Arran whisky to share, one to gift, and one to keep, which would you choose and why?

Andrew: My dad is 80 soon so the 21 is going to be a fantastic addition to the party! I’ve already decided to gift it so that’s easy. It’s a great drink. I’d share and am sharing the Bothy. Its one of the best value whisky's out there so I don’t mind sharing. I’m keeping the 18, as I’ve not tried it, and the reviews look great.

Congratulations Andrew! If you'd like to sample some Arran for yourself, you can browse our range here today.
