Crafted by distilling peated malt for one week of the year, this expression from The Balvenie is the second release in The Balvenie Stories series. Described as a narrative from the ancient earth, this 14-year-old was the brainchild of distillery manager Ian Millar after a visit to the famously peaty isle of Islay. Bottled at 48.3% abv free from chill filtration, this Speysider is a sweet, smoky, and fragrant expression of The Balvenie. On the nose, there is gentle heather, light peat smoke, and soft notes of caramel and honey. The palate is well-rounded and smooth with flavours of citrus zest and peat intermingling beautifully before leading into a long finish with notes of smouldering bonfire and Madagascan vanilla appearing at the close.
