From Islay icons Kilchoman - an exciting new bottling chosen by our first-ever Cask Committee! Our W-Club-member experts selected a sample drawn from a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask, in which the liquid was matured for seven years. Bottled at a bold 56.6% abv, exclusively for the W Club.

This sample boasted the best scores from the lucky few who were chosen to participate, as they were asked to give scores out of 25 on: nose, mouthfeel, finish and their general expression, respectively.

Here is what they had to say:

"Great legs and lovely colour. A nice fruity dram, slight spice bite. One for the garden in summer."

"This is a great Kilchoman PX dram, it delivers in spades and the definition of sweet and peat."

They also identified notes of stone fruits, red berries and wood spice on the nose, red fruits, nutmeg and a smooth mouthfeel on the palate and a finish of fruits, spice and sweet smoke.

Official Tasting Notes: Expect aromas of fruit and honey, with an undercurrent of peat, leading to more fruity flavours on the palate with waves of rich peat smoke. The finish is long and sweet with classic Kilchoman citrus notes.

Kilchoman Distillery was the first new Islay distillery in 125 years when it opened in 2005. Known among whisky aficionados as being ahead of the curve before the whisky boom, Kilchoman released its first whisky in 2009 and now produces several gems that have become both fan favourites and critics' darlings alike.
