Since the brand's relaunch in 2018, Fettercairn has undoubtedly come into its own as an impressive single malt Scotch. In the two or so years that have passed, the Highland Distillery has enjoyed a burst of success - not only with a healthy increase in sales, but with a new following of whisky fans far and wide that have simply fallen for Fettercairn.
For members of The W Club, in particular, Fettercairn makes us nostalgic for the first Digital Drams sessions we ran back in September 2020 with Fettercairn UK Brand Specialist Andrew Lennie. Andy's approachability, knowledge and knack for story-telling attracted new Fettercairn fans, with the 16-year-old (now sold out) becoming a club favourite.
It's a treat, therefore, that W Club members will be the first to access the new Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 before anyone else in the UK. From Monday 1st to Sunday 7th March, members will enjoy a period of exclusivity before the bottle becomes available to the general public via The Whisky Shop.*
Ahead of the launch of this exclusive new release, we got the scoop from Andy himself:
“Since launching the new range of Fettercairn single malt bottlings in 2018, we have celebrated a house spirit style which is full of tropical fruit flavours. Each whisky tells the story of our unique copper cooling ring distillation process which is fundamental In creating our signature distillery character. Our cask selections help nurture and enhance this beautiful New Make Spirit.
This year we are delighted to launch the warehouse collection, a new series of rare and small-batch whiskies drawn from within our distillery’s 14 dunnage warehouses and each named after the warehouse that helped to shape it. Each warehouse has its own personality and these whiskies allow us to tell a little bit more of the Fettercairn story. The collection is led by Whisky maker, Gregg Glass, embarking on a journey of discovery, researching how each warehouse makes its own unique mark on the Fettercairn spirit.”
"We have made a conscious effort to detail each different cask type we have used on the packaging, and the first of the series is a combination of 19 casks from 2010. We have also gone with a slightly higher ABV this time at 49.7% abv. Lots of distillery character, lots of tropical fruit, a wonderful sprinkling of spice towards the end and a whisky which is undeniably Fettercairn. I look forward to seeing this project develop and expand over the coming years.”
Just 3600 bottles of Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 are available.
