New: The Balvenie A Collection of Curious Casks

A Collection of Curious Casks celebrates the power of the close friendship and collaboration between Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Samples George Paterson and their keen instincts for selecting casks with rare potential. We learn of rare and limited casks that are true hidden gems at the distillery, weird and wonderful outliers that we would not usually encounter. The story tells of George’s incredible knowledge of The Balvenie's warehouses and showcases some of the duo's favourite casks.
As with all releases within The Stories Collection, A Collection of Curious Casks pays homage to The Balvenie Makers by bringing their stories to life and emphasising the credentials of the craftspeople behind the whisky.

A Collection of Curious Casks 14 Year Old American Bourbon Barrel
Initally set aside to become a Single Barrel 12, a subtle smoky flavour was detected without any peat being used, and so the whisky was granted a 14-year slumber in American bourbon casks. Bottled at 47.8% abv.
Velvety sweetness on the nose, alongside aromas of rich toffee, smouldering oak, crisp citrus and ever flowing honey musk. On the palate, candied orange peel is grounded in woody, earthy flavours from beautifully roasted malt and deep vanilla oakiness.
A Collection of Curious Casks 18 Year Old French Pineau Cask Finish
Laid down by former Malt Master David Stewart, Kelsey discovered these casks and found that the whisky had developed into something incredible afer an 8-year finish in French Pineau casks. Bottled at 47.9% abv.
On the nose, there are warming amber tones from toasted oak and delicate spice, alongside smooth butterscotch and hints of ripe berries. The palate holds intriguing layers of spice and rich sweetness on a bed of creamy vanilla, honey and gentle oaky tannins, before leading to a long and lingering finish.
