Graham McTavish - Summer 2022

Glaswegin actor Graham McTavish jumped from one hit tv show to another since speaking with us last year. The star of television and the silver screen (as Dwalin in The Hobbit trilogy), left his role on Outlander and joined the world of Game of Thrones as Ser Harold Westerling in House of the Dragon - hailed as one of the best shows of 2022. He also married his wife in January of this year, in a romantic celebration at Borthwick Castle; hopefully with plenty of whisky! In our interview he revealed that he was a big fan of Campbeltown whisky, so perhaps some special Springbank bottles were in order.

Craig McGinlay - Summer 2015

We caught up with fitness coach, actor and model, Craig McGinlay, in the summer of 2015, just as he was cast in Guy Richie's Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur, after appearing in David Beckham's Haig Club advert (also directed by Richie). The Scottish actor has gone on to appear in Outlander and in the most recent series of You on Netflix, as Hugo. He also plays a major character in mysterious, yet unreleased film The Fairy Flag, which was commemorated with a whisky from Edradour.

David Gyasi - Winter 2019

Although not yet a household name, British actor David Gyasi has featured alongside some of the biggest in the biz, in blockbusters such as Interstellar, Cloud Atlas and Malificent: Mistress of Evil. In 2019, we spoke with him about his role as faun Agreus Astrayon in Amazon Prime's fantasy series, Carnival Row. Since then, he has starred in The Sandman on Netflix, in popular podcast series Impact Winter, and in the powerful film Ear for Eye - an experimental exploration of the black experience.

K.T Tunstall - Winter 2017

Iconic Scottish singer-songwriter K.T Tunstall came in for a chat and a glass or two of whisky back in 2017, promoting her new album, Wax. The record was met with many positive reviews, and she released her follow up (her seventh studio album), Nut, last year. She also performed as the headliner of the prestigious New Year's Eve Times Square Ball celebration in New York to bring in 2022. Most notably, in 2020 she revealed to podcast, Double Scotch, that she brought up her favourite whisky, Talisker, so much in the early days of her career that the distillery gifted her a guitar made from whisky casks!

Rachel Surmanni - Summer 2021

Our Scottish folk artist cover star, Rachel Surmanni, discussed her new EP, 'Swallow Me' and her love of nature with us two years ago. Since then, she has released a brilliant new EP called 'Every Swimming Pool Runs To The Sea', and is undergoing a residency at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow. You can catch her there this month, on 16th March, and there are tickets still available.

Mr Lyan - Summer 2017

Hotshot cocktail bartender Ryan Cheriyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan, dropped by to discuss his impressive achievements, including his sustainable bar White Lyan: the first cocktail bar in the world to use no perishables. Since then, he's gone on to garner more, as Time Out's 'Person of the Decade' and one of '40 Under 40 Tastemakers' by Wine Enthusiast. He also partnered with Masterclass to teach mixology to the masses.

Ian Rankin - Autumn 2017

Prolific and iconic, Scottish author Ian Rankin added some culture to our magazine in Autumn 2017, as he discussed his lengthy career writing crime literature - and his penchant for Highland Park. In the years since, he has published his 22nd, 23rd and 24th Inspector Rebus novels, and made his live debut with his band, Best Picture, at Kendal Calling music festival in 2018. Most of all, he was granted a knighthood in the Queen's 2022 Birthday Honours for services to literature and charity.

Charles MacLean -Spring 2016

Whisky Legend Charlie MacLean graced our cover during Spring 2016, to tell all on his spectacular career as the author of more than eighteen Scotch whisky books including the standard work on brands, Scotch Whisky, and the leading book on the subject, Malt Whisky. He continues to lend his expertise in every issue of Whiskeria magazine as our resident whisky guru, reviewing all of our new releases. Most recently, in the Queen's 2021 Birthday Honours, he was granted a prestigious MBE for services to Scotch whisky, UK exports and charity.

If you are a member of our W Club, you will receive a copy of the magazine to your door, otherwise: head to your local Whisky Shop to pick up your issue!
