Bruichladdich 17 Year Old 1l

Bruichladdich 17 Year Old 1l description
Distilled at Islay's Bruichladdich distillery, this 1980s bottling was matured for 17 years before being bottled at a strength of 43% abv. This litre bottle was released while the distillery was under the ownership of Invergordon, prior to its closure in the 1990s that saw the distillery almost consigned to the history books.
Bruichladdich was built in 1881, but closed in 1995 and lay silent until the turn of the 21st century, when independent bottler Murray McDavid and a group of Islay landowners purchased the distillery, reopening it permanently the following year. With whisky legend Jim McEwan at the helm, the distillery went from strength to strength, eventually being bought by French drinks giant, Rémy Cointreau in 2012 for £58 million.
