A real dark horse. The successful Darkness limited edition range is back with an exceptional edition in the series. This Benrinnes 14 Year Old was finished for at least six months in none other than a PX sherry octave cask. This rare and highly coveted cask has imparted a tremendous amount of character. It comes at a zappy 55% abv and is free from chill filtration. As any Darkness fans will know already, the name does not mean that the whiskies are tremendously dark in colour. This is because they refuse to add any coloration to their single cask whiskies.
Instead, this has darkness in its hugely sherried taste. Milk chocolate and raspberry aromas are married with bouillon savoury notes. Sticky, dried fruits meet deep oak in the taste. The finish is one of cocoa, spice, and lasting sherried character.
