An independent bottling from Darkness of Capernoch single malt, now a closed distillery. This 23-year-old expression has been finished in a specially-coopered Oloroso sherry octave cask, allowing for huge sherry-bomb notes, before being bottled at a strong 54% abv.
The aromas on the nose are powerful, with black cherries and tobacco, followed by a hint of toasted oak. Stewed plums, Damson jam and poached pears are delicious on the palate, with sticky toffee pudding, vanilla ice cream and shortbread too. The oak lasts and lasts on the palate, with an aftertaste of sherry-soaked fruit.
