Distilled in a renovated cottage in the Kingdom of Fife, this Scottish gin takes its name from the husband of Mary Queen of Scots, Lord Darnley. Created by the Wemyss family, who are also responsible for Kingsbarns single malt Scotch whisky, this limited edition release is part of the Cottage Series and is crafted with Fife-grown barley smoked over pine wood chips, rowanberry grown around the distillery, coriander from the cottage garden, orange peel, and Lapsang Souchong tea.
The nose has orange, lemon and sweet berries with a delicate pine-scented smoke emerging. The palate has a strong citrus element, with orange and grapefruit to the fore, before a malty depth and a light beach bonfire smoke emerge. The finish is long and fruity, with notes of citrus and smoke continuing to build.
