Glenfarclas

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenfarclas is one of the few family run distilleries remaining in Scotland, and it is fiercely committed to principles of tradition and innovation in the field of Scottish malt whisky. Located at the foot of Ben Rinnes, the distillery was originally licensed in 1836 by Robert Hay, but in 1865 John Grant purchased the distillery for a fee of £511 and it has been owned and managed by 6 different generations of the Grant family since.

History

The Grant family have run Glenfarclas distillery for almost 160 years, after John Grant purchased the premises, along with Recherlich farm, in 1865. Since farming was his priority, he let the distillery to John Smith who later established Cragganmore distillery. The license for the distillery was passed down to his children after Grant’s death, and it’s now in its fifth generation.
