Vanilla Floral Carnation Woody Creamy Spicy Fruity Coconut
One of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland and the most easterly, Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery in the ancient Doric dialect still spoken in these parts) has been making its mighty malt in the quaint and historic market town of Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen in North East Scotland, ever since 1797. Only ever produced in small, precious batches, Glen Garioch is a rare find indeed, and warmly appreciated by those who like a hearty Highland malt, non chill-filtered as nature intended, with a wholesome maltiness, honeyed sweetness and delicious creamy texture to savour.
The reward for 25 years patience is a wave of flavour, with hints of spice, juicy fruits and a traditional old style Glen Garioch smokiness.
Matured in North American Oak casks.

In the 1970s, an innovative waste-heat recovery system was installed at Glen Garioch, which not only supplied heat for the malt kiln and pre-heated the wash, but also warmed an acre of glasshouses and another acre of poly-tunnels.

The Glen Garioch Greenhouse Project was the brainchild of Morrison's production director, Alistair F Ross and the ever-ingenious Joe Hughes, advised by Morrison's Chief Engineer, Harry Cockburn, and supported by Jim McColl, presenter of BBC Scotland's popular Beechgrove Garden series. With planning permission granted in 1977, the distillery soon became famous for its tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and cucumbers. The project went on to be featured on the BBC's Tomorrow's World programme, and in 1982 was chosen to be part of the British Pavilion at the World Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The project was discontinued in 1993.
