A new single malt whisky release from Glendronach, originally matured in large sherry casks before being finished in a combination offive Pedro Ximenez sherry Octaves. These Octaves are small casks, around 1/8 of the size of a standard sherry butt, whichcreate a magnificent liquid that has come into maximum contact with the wood. Matured for a total of 20 years, this whisky was distilled on 23rd Sep 1994 and is one of only 371 bottles in existence.
A wonderful red maple, dark amber colour, with intense chocolate and cherries on the nose. A trace of pepper spice and oak tingle leads to the full bodied sherry on the palate upon tasting. Rich Christmas cake and cigar spice give way to a nutty coffee dryness. The finish is a magnificent mix of the heavy sherry flavours with rich Highland whisky characteristics and a subtle lingering spice.
