Personally selected by whisky maker Dr Bill Lumsden, this limited-edition 12-year-old single malt from Glenmorangie has been matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in casks that previously held one of the rarest fortified wines in the world - Malaga Dulce, from southern Spain. It was then bottled in August 2020 at 47.3% abv, and is everything Lumsden could have hoped for!
Sweet and rich on the nose, this malt offers aromas of honey, toffee, and a burst of red fruits. The palate is rich and oily, with dried fruits and dates making for a caramelised sweetness on the palate. The addition of water brings forward notes of orange peel, chocolate and brown sugar. The finish is nutty with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger lingering in the aftertaste.
