Distilled in 1981, this 31-year-old single cask expression hails from the now-closed Karuizawa distillery. This incredibly rare whisky was bottled at a robust 60.5% abv.
On the nose, there is petrichor, black cherry, and liquorice, complemented by subtler notes of nectarine. The palate has sweet vanilla, juicy mango, and chilli pepper with plenty of fresh floral hints. The finish is long and aromatic with dark chocolate, raisins, and barbecue smoke all present at the close.
