Mackmyra 1st Edition

Mackmyra was founded by a group of eight friends in 1999 - after drinking whisky on a skiing holiday led them to discuss why nobody in Sweden was making malt whisky. These friends experimented with more than 170 recipes over the next three years before deciding on their base recipes in 2002.In 2008, the First Edition was the first consistent bottling to be released from the Mackmyra distillery. It is based on the 'Elegant' (no peat or wood smoke) recipe, which has then been matured in a mixture of first fill ex-Bourbon casks and Swedish oak casks, a proportion of which are very small (only 100 litres). These are then left to rest in the Bodas mine until the whisky is ready to be bottled without the addition of any colouring.
