Octomore 11.1 Scottish Barley is a five-year-old single malt from the eleventh series of Octomore – Bruichladdich's super-heavily peated expression. This release has been matured in American oak casks from Jim Beam, Jack Daniels and Heaven Hill for five years after it was distilled in 2014. It was then bottled at 59.4% abv without chill-filtration or added colouring.
Sweet aromas of candied lemon, white fruit and honey fill the nose, before the palate is taken up with smoke and oak. Demerara sugar, dried fruits and sweet vanilla are among the flavours, with more peat smoke and salt lingering on in a long finish.
