Wholly unique. A fine 30 year old single grain whisky from the Strathclyde Distillery. Known for producing grain components for blends, independent bottlers such as Duncan Taylor have found a way to get their hands on some select casks from this distillery. This was bottled in the Rare Auld series in April 2021, after a 30 year maturation in ex-sherry oak casks. Only 248 bottles have been produced from this single cask expression. It is free from chill filtration and artificial colouring and arrives at a moderate 48.3% abv.
The nose is warm and fruity, with aromas of vanilla, apple pie, and oak. On the palate one can find darker flavours of ginger, nutmeg, grassy hay and brown sugar. The finish is long and sweet, of caramel chocolate, blackberry and sweet oak.
