    Glen Grant Single Malt Whisky

One of the best-selling whiskies in the world, Glen Grant has its home in the small Speyside town of Rothes. Brothers John & James Grant officially founded the distillery in 1840 (although they may have been distilling without a license as early as 1823) and this is one of few distilleries to still bear the name of its founders.

Ownership was later passed down to James ‘The Major’ Grant – the nephew of John Grant. Under his innovative guidance, the distillery experienced a huge boost; Glen Grant was the first distillery to have electric lighting and he also introduced the tall stills which are commonly credited with giving the malt its distinctive golden colour and smooth taste. At one stage he even decided to build a second distillery, originally known as Glen Grant#2 and later renamed to Caperdonich distillery, right next to the existing one. After The Major, there have been a number of ownership changes at Glen Grant but its popularity has endured. Since 2006 the distillery has been owner by Campari.

The site is one of the larger producers of whisky in Scotland, with a production capacity of 5.9million litres. As such there are generally a wide range of official bottles available, with the popular core range consisting of 10 year old and 16 year old expressions and a no-age statement Major’s Reserve.
