Lochlea
Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Founded in 2019, Lochlea is located on a farm in Ayrshire - making whisky with a focus on the land.
About Lochlea
Based in the heart of Burns Country, Lochlea distillery opened in 2018 on the very farm that Rabbie Burns lived and worked on from 1777 to 1784. By growing their own barley and utilising their on-site water source, they have full traceability over the ingredients going into their process – allowing a greater control over their unique flavour profile.
Lochlea released their first expression in 2022: Lochlea Single Malt First Release.
The distillery is independent and family owned.
Flip and Indie are part of the team as the resident dogs.
History
Lochlea was previously a cattle farm when it was transformed into 50 acres of malting barley crops. This was historically grown on the farm, including when Robert Burns lived and worked there. Construction of a whisky distillery began in 2017, and finished the following year. Since then, a first edition was released in 2022, with plenty more to come.
