The Singleton of Dufftown

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Singleton encompasses three distilleries: The Singleton of Dufftown, The Singleton of Glen Ord, and The Singleton of Glendullan. The Dufftown and the Glendullan ranges celebrate the harmony of flavours that come from flavourful barley and the balance of different cask types, and The Glen Ord range celebrates passion, time, and care by prioritising slow batch distillation.

About The Singleton

The Singleton is about smoothness, and making first-rate single malt whisky with a quality that experts call ‘welcoming’. The brand rose in the late 19th century, united by a single vision to create fantastic single malt whiskies. Glen Ord is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, found on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. Despite the three distilleries sharing a name they have separate Malt Masters, and each distillery is focussed on its own vision.

Most of Singleton’s product is aged in American oak bourbon barrels, which impart sweetness and a rich nuttiness.

History

Founded in 1897, Glendullan was the first brainchild of blenders from Aberdeen by the name of William Williams and sons. With good business know-how and a private railway siding, the Williams gave Glendullan a healthy start in life. It took the barley shortages of the Second World War to halt production – though the momentous event only halted production for seven years. Glendullan reopened in 1947, with most mechanical operations powered by water wheel. In 2013, A state of the art biodiversity plant opened there. The Singleton of Glen Ord is based in the Scottish Highlands and is the only remaining single malt scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle. The Singleton of Dufftown is distilled in the Dufftown distillery in Speyside, and has been since 1896.
