    Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whiskies

The Royal Burgh of Campbeltown lies at the southern tip of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and once boasted over 30 distilleries, famous for their oily and smoky flavours. Only a few now remain, and these Campbeltown malts are best known for their briny character and the region offers something unique in character and style - well worth a visit.

It was a combination of the First World War causing a decline in consumption and US Prohibition that affected the area and forced most of the distilleries to close - In fact until 2004 there were only 2 distilleries producing whisky. There are also a few peated releases, for example Longrow, which is from the Springbank distillerty, and act as a reminder of Campbeltown’s illustrious past.

KILKERRAN WHISKY COMES FROM THE GLENGYLE DISTILLERY BUT IS NOT NAMED AS SUCH AS THE BRAND IS OWNED BY GLEN SCOTIA
