    DESCRIPTION
The 11th release from The Last Drop Distillers, in association with van Zellers & Company of Douro Valley, Portugal, this pair of rare old Tawny Ports is limited to just 770 sets. Produced at the van Zeller family estate in 1870 and 1970, respectively, each one is bottled at 20% abv and wax-dipped by hand. Each set of two 75cl bottles comes with a 5cl miniature of each Port, two custom stoppers, a luxury tasting book and a signed certificate of bottling.

The 1870 has aromas of dried fruits, chocolate overtones in the mouth and a fresh balance with a rippling aftertaste. Ben Howkins of The Last Drop says "A black and white tasting note simply cannot do justice to a wine almost 150 years old." Jancis Robinson, described by Decanter magazine as 'the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world', awarded 19 points to the 1870, saying it was "a real treat to taste a great wine this old." Robinson went on to say "Very gentle on the palate and remarkably clean considering its age with no excesses and just the right amount of refreshing acidity for the tick, lightly raised sweetness. Bravissimo!"

The 1970 has dried figs and peaches on the nose, with caramel, toffee, cinnamon and a touch of smoke in the mouth. Cristiano van Zeller said "Nearly 50 years in cask have concentrated the wine whilst maintaining its freshness." Neal Martin, wine critic for Vinous and author of Pomerol, described the 1970 as having "clove, toffee, wild fennel and smoke aromas. The palate is sweet and crisp on the entry with a tang of Seville orange marmalade and quince. There is great tension here thanks to the fine seam of acidity with a fresh, almost 'zippy' finish that belies its age", awarding 93 points to the fine Colheita Tawny Port.
