Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey

Kentucky Bourbon & Rye

Made using an unusually high proportion of rye for a bourbon, Bulleit was founded in 1987 by Tom Bulleit as he revived a bourbon recipe invented by his great-great grandfather, Augustus, around 1830. What makes the bourbon special is a standard maturation of six years, with an even rarer 10-year-old available.

About Bulleit Bourbon

Bulleit is distilled, aged and bottled in the traditional home of bourbon – Kentucky USA. High rye content gives it a bold, spicy character with a distinctively smooth, clean finish. Kentucky limestone-filtered water provides a foundation for the expression’s character, while charred American oak barrels add a complex finish.

One fateful day, while transporting his barrels of bourbon from Kentucky to New Orleans, Augustus Bulleit vanished. What happened is still unknown.

The crooked label is a deliberate and is a nod to a practice in Augustus' days in which a bigger font can be used at an angle to see the name clearer from across the bar.

2 million gallons of bourbon are produced by the distillery every year.

History

In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr. left his successful law practice and founded Bulleit bourbon, fulfilling a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe. Until 2017 there was no Bulleit Distillery. Tom commissioned his whiskey from other distilleries – after 1997 (when the brand was bought by the giant Canadian distiller, Seagram) from Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg. A state-of-the-art Bulleit distillery was opened to visitors in 2019, offering tours and cocktail classes.
