Wales is currently home to only two distilleries- both operated by Penderyn. Having opened in 2004 , Penderyn distillery is situated in the foothills of the Breacon Beacons in South Wales. Llandudno was opened in 2021, and another in Swansea is due to launch in 2024. Although Wales has a rich history of distilling single malts, dating back to the 4th century, Penderyn was the first in the country since 1903. Welsh whisky is famed for being fruity, sweet and mellow.
