Karuizawa distillery was founded in 1955 where the distillery was 850m above sea level making it the highest in Japan. It was then, unfortunately, mothballed in 2000, with it later being completely demolished in 2016.This expression was distilled in 1992 and laid to mature in an American oak sherry butt for 15 years before there being only 308 bottles bottled by Whisky Magazine in 2007 before it was then launched at Whisky Live in 2008.
