Penderyn 2006 Single Cask #2 Bourbon Matured Description

Distilled at the Penderyn distillery in the namesake town in Cynon Valley, Wales, this is the first commercially produced Welsh whisky since the 19th century! This single cask expression was distilled in 2006 and then matured in an ex-bourbon cask for 12 years before just 148 bottles produced were produced. Each bottle has a strength of 56.8% abv and has an individual bottle number handwritten on the label.

The second oldest ever released by the distillery, this cracker stands out for its bold, sweet aromas and flavours of tropical fruit and vanilla.

Fun fact: Since its establishment in 2018, the Doddie Weir Cup has been won by Wales each year until recently in October 2020 when it was won by Scotland - Doddie's home country!

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
