Invergordon 1987 32 Year Old Single Cask #903194 Rare Whisky 101 Description

A venerable old single grain, single cask, cask strength whisky from the Highland's only Grain Distillery - Invergordon. This bottling was acquired after many single grain cask samples, with this idiosyncratic single grain being a favourite of the Rare Whisky 101 team of David and Andy.

Distilled in August 1987 and bottled in December 2019, this whisky spent 32 years maturing before being bottled at 57.5% abv, with just 28 bottles made available. This expression presents a cornucopia of fruits - citrus, tropical, green, autumnal with hints of cloves and ginger spice and a lingering vanilla toffee sweetness.

December 2019 was also the month and year Princess Anne presented Doddie with the Helen Rollason award for “outstanding achievement in the face of adversity" at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show. You can watch Doddie accepting the award here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdmrHQOC3Uc

A cornucopia of fruits - citrus, tropical, green, autumnal with hints of cloves and ginger spice and a lingering vanilla toffee sweetness.

Each winner of a bottle from Doddie's auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation logo (pictured on homepage)!

This bottle has been personally donated by David Robertson of Rare Whisky 101.

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognizable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career.

Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017 Doddie and his Trustees launched the registered charity My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Its aims are simple: to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease and investigate potential cures; to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
