Known for their signature style of peated liquid, their crowd-dividing drams are nothing short of legendary – and their latest addition to The Wall Collection will only add to this legend. Laphroaig’s flavour profile was once described as 'a hospital on fire' for its intensely medicinal smoke, Laphroaig is certainly something on which everyone has an opinion - and our opinion is that we love it! It is unapologetically peaty, powerful, dramatic, and rich where many drams would opt to soften their edges in a bid to appeal to all.

The Wall Collection is a limited series of extremely rare expressions capturing the people, perseverance and passion which have defined Laphroaig. The packaging, each one uniquely completed by hand by British artist, Laura Carlin, is inspired not only by the focal element of each release in the series, but also by the lettering on the side of their hometown Warehouse No. 1 which has become a landmark of Islay.

“It is seen by so many visitors to our distillery but what has the wall itself seen across all that time? How many changes of weather, how many distinct characters, and how many countless layers of paint? These are the questions and potential answers that Laura hopes to communicate to anyone who holds this bottle of whisky in their hands.”

Laura Carlin is an award-winning illustrator and ceramicist from London. In her own words, she loves to create stories around physical objects, and whatever medium she works in, she relishes the opportunity to explore themes of history, people and iconography. For the Laphroaig The Wall Collection: Rope, Laura has focused on the classic puffer boats, and their ropes, which symbolise the way in which the world of sherry is brought and connected to Laphroaig. The same sherry, in fact, that is used in this particular expression.

With a highly limited run of 200 bottles, The Wall Collection: Rope, adds dimension to the classic peat of Laphroaig with a sweetness that both lightens the heaviness of the peat, and yet manages to add depth to the overall flavour. The liquid in this ultra-rare release was matured in Oloroso Sherry seasoned European oak hogshead and finished in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry seasoned European oak butt.

On the nose you can expect aromas of spice and rich toffee, cranberry and dark red cherry. Polished leather, sweet molasses and mandarin orange. On the palate, you’ll be greeted with gentle smokiness with notes of treacle toffee, candied orange peel and hazelnut. The finish is long and smooth with smoked orange toffee, oak and mixed spice.
