Ardbeg is a distillery defined by its peat-y intensity, which makes this experimental Fèis Ìle 2009 release, one of just two special casks bottled for the festival that year, something a little bit special. Distilled in 1998 and matured for 10 years in a single toasted new oak cask. this expression takes Ardbeg's spirit new.

Toasted new oak maturation is typically associated with bourbon rather than Scotch whisky, but in this instance it has created an Ardbeg release is choc-a-bloc full of vanilla, coconut, and rich sweetness, underpinned by the gentlest whisper of peat smoke, making it an Islay single malt that rewards those willing to try something new.

Bottled at 54.7% ABV from a yield of just 282 bottles, this is a rare and experimental piece of Ardbeg's history. Expect tobacco smoke with vanilla, orange, peppermint, coconut, and red berries on the nose, salt and smoke enveloped by milk chocolate, and cinder toffee on the palate, and a moreish finish of oak, vanilla, and caramel.
