The Whisky
For decades, both Bowmore & Aston Martin have strived to craft, create and curate, bringing beautiful whiskies and breath-taking cars to life. A perfect collaboration, each limited edition single malt is created by Ron Welsh, Master Blender at Bowmore distillery and Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin. By bringing these two worlds and these two creators together, they call on their shared experience and skills to create a whisky which tells the story of the synergy between the two iconic British brands.
The third in the series, Bowmore Aston Martin Master’s Selection 22 Year Old is double matured in specially chosen European oak and Oloroso sherry casks, along with the optimal mix of American oak hogsheads. The impressive Islay single malt pays homage to the definitive and constant character of Bowmore. Presented at 51.0% abv.
The nose opens with aromas of lemon zest, poached peaches and vanilla which give way to indulgent tones of treacle, toffee, antique oak, roasted chestnuts and soft leather. The palate is rich and intense, with a dominant sherried, nutty character atop notes of chocolate, raisins, red berries and layers of peat smoke, before a long and sweet finish with oak spice and sea salt.
The Distillery
Founded in 1779, Bowmore is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland and the oldest surviving on the Isle of Islay. Remaining hand-crafted, Bowmore prides itself on its traditional techniques which honour past methods. Claiming to be one of the world’s oldest maturation warehouses, the No.1 Vaults has been maturing liquid for over 240 years. This stone warehouse sits on the shores of Loch Indaal and infiltrates the whisky with its unique character. The distillery also has its own Malt Barn which allows its barley to air and malt, and starts the process of germination. Bowmore is known for flavours of stone fruits, sea salt, oak and smoke.
