One of the original Irish whiskey giants, Old Comber Whiskey was founded in 1825 and produced at the Comber Distilleries, which were located just ten miles from where The Echlinville Distillery now stands.

Comber Distilleries fell silent in 1953 and Old Comber joined the list of Ireland’s lost whiskeys. Revived in 2013, Old Comber is now ready to be savoured by our customers at The Whisky Shop.

With three expressions available online and in store today with a blend, a 7 year old Single Pot Still and a 200th Anniversary Limited Release they have launched in the UK in an impressive way. Better yet for customer of The Whisky Shop, as the Exclusive UK Retailer we're the only place where you can pick up these outstanding expressions.

Old Comber Single Pot Still

Crafted from a blend of the finest Irish pot still and grain whiskeys, this expression is finished the Old Comber way, famous since 1892, in port and sherry casks.

Bottled at 46% abv, the nose is full of soft orchard fruits, baked plum pudding, vanilla crème anglaise and a gentle waft of warming nutmeg. The palate is more full-bodied with Madeira cake trifle come first, laced with sherry richness and vanilla pods. Everything stays beautifully balanced, held together by soft wood tannins, toasted almonds and a touch of mild winter spice. The finish is long, and lingering with warm ginger and sweet cherry Bakewell.

Old Comber Pot Still & Grain Blend

Now available at The Whisky Shop, this is a vital release for any fans of Irish Whiskey! The first single pot still bottling the distillery has produced since it fell silent in 1953, it's bottled at an easy-drinking 46% abv, and you’ll find that there’s a reason this style of dram making is coming back with a vengeance! The nose is like walking into a patisserie - all gentle sweetness with notes of pear and almond tart, Black Forest gateaux, and cherry Bakewell. The palate is a little richer, with a viscous mouthfeel reminiscent of treacle, and an undercurrent of cooking spices. The finish develops that subtle spice into a warm, lingering glow of clove, coffee, and nutmeg.

Old Comber Single Pot Still 200th Anniversary Limited Release

A truly unique release celebrating the very best of Old Comber’s whiskey artistry, this limited edition bottling was creating using a mash bill of unmalted and malted barley. A single pot still Irish dram to its core, the release is a blend of liquids aged 7 years and upwards.

Bottled at 50% abv (100 Proof), the nose is bright and inviting, opening with the lively tartness of red currants and Bramley apples followed by a soft cinnamon spice with a slight hazelnut note.  The palate is smooth and creamy in texture, carrying a nutty character throughout that is interspersed with orange zest for a lively citrus lift. The finish is gently spicey and tingles with lively white pepper and aromatics, invoking memories of wood shavings and staves in the distillery cooperage.
