Digital Drams: Compass Box
Behold the first Digital Drams Event of 2024! Held on one of the most important days of the whisky calendar, Burns Night, the tasting will commence at 7:30pm on Thursday 25th January. We will be joined by the Compass Box UK Brand Ambassador, Michael Stephenson, as he takes us through five whiskies from this popular independent bottler.
This is our second Digital Drams event with the brand; we held a wildly successful tasting back in November 2022. Compass Box fiercely believes in the merits of blending, and diversity within the blends. It bottles blended Scotch, blended malt, and blended grain whiskies. Founded by John Glaser in 2000, and originally working from his kitchen, the brand has now expanded and has its headquarters in London with a team of over 15 enthusiastic whisky-lovers.
Each pack comes with 5 x 3cl samples of:
- Compass Box The Peat Monster - Created with two peaty single malts from Laphroaig and Caol Ila, along with a small percentage of a proprietary Highland blended malt, The Peat Monster offers a spectrum of seaside and medicinal peatiness, along with smokiness, all surrounding a core of fruity malt character.
- Compass Box The Spaniard - Inspired by an eponymous bespoke whisky recently created for a bar in New York City called The Spaniard, Compass Box decided to explore the sherried style further to create a new whisky.
- Compass Box Orchard House - Comprised mostly of whisky from Linkwood, Clynelish, and Benrinnes, this fabulously fruity blend boasts flavours of maple syrup, orchard fruits and gentle peat smoke.
- Compass Box Hedonism - Celebrating the art of grain whiskies and high quality cask maturation, this whisky has been crafted with liquid from Port Dundas and Cameronbridge. The lighter style of whisky brings delicious vanilla, caramel and coconut notes.
- Compass Box Glasgow Blend - Made from whiskies matured in first fill bourbon barrels, refill barrels, first fill sherry butts, and French oak casks, this sweet and spicy dram brings flavours of bonfire, Christmas cake and baking spices.
Additionally, following the event, you will receive a 15% discount on all the whiskies sampled.
