New Release: The GlenDronach 50 Year Old
Distilled in 1971, this expression has spent 50 years slumbering in a combination of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks before being married together. After this, the dram was finished in a single Pedro Ximenez cask to create this deeply intricate whisky. The 50-year-old single malt has come to be under the watchful eye of The GlenDronach’s Master Blender Rachel Barrie.
Almost 200 years old, The GlenDronach’s total dedication to their craft shines through in this limited edition whisky. Rich, complex, and passionately made, it is one of The GlenDronach’s finest releases to date.
The expression is free from chill filtration, has been bottled at 43.8% abv and has a natural cask imparted dark amber colour. This whisky has notes of cranberries and sugared almonds on the nose, with some deep woody hints coming through. Powerful and dry on the palate, flavours of sweet vanilla custard, and caramelized sugar are combined with juicy cherry and tobacco. These flavours move into a lingering finish full of cocoa beans and dark chocolate.
Beautifully showcased in an opulent bottle that bears the words “Bottle No.1” as an engraving, the elegance of The GlenDronach 50 Year Old is mirrored in the stunning presentation. The bottle itself is encased in a bespoke blue leather box embossed with The GlenDronach’s emblem.
