If it's starting to feel like a busy summer, it is because we keep flying stateside! Primarily to drink some tasty Bourbons and Ryes, but also to avoid what must be the wettest summer in recent memory (even by British standards). For this episode of Digital Drams we are off to Kentucky, to try a series of whiskeys that are part of the Beam-Suntory 'Small Batch' family. That means we'll be sampling five different Kentucky Whiskeys (mostly straight bourbon) with David Miles. David is, by some distance, the record holder for appearances at major Digital Drams tournaments. But despite how often he's on, I'm sure anyone who's joined him for a tasting before will agree, he's never one to be missed. This event will take place next Thursday, 18th of July, at 7.30 pm.
The Beam 'Small Batch Collection' is sometimes referred to as the 'Small Batch Bourbon Collection' — but we're featuring a rye whiskey on this one, and doesn't always include a Maker's Mark — but we're the W Club, we do what we want. The collection is classed by featuring multiple different brands which feature the Beam name, but less predominantly than the flagship 'Jim Beam Whiskey'. The Beam Suntory family of American Whiskies consists of: Baker's, Basil Hayden's, Beam's Eight Star, Booker's, Jim Beam, Kessler, Knob Creek, Legent, Maker's Mark, Old Crow, Old Grand-Dad.
Although this tasting will exclusively feature 5 x 3cl samples of:
