Penderyn is made using abundant pure water from the Breacon Beacons and is matured in ex-bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace and Evan Williams, before a finish in Portugese Maderia wine casks.
The whisky was launched on St Davids Day, for the patron saint of Wales.
Penderyn's 'Icons of Wales' range features an expression named for Rhiannon; the welsh witch who is the subject for Stevie Nicks' Fleetwood Mac tune.
The distillery has a unique still, designed by Dr David Faraday, and two lantern stills.
History
Founded in 2004, after an inspiring trip to the pub by a group of pals, the distillery was created with the aim of crafting a distillery as precious as Welsh gold. Ten years later, with a new distillery built in Llandudno, Penderyn has picked up a multitude of awards, and has become a much loved staple of British whisky.
