Rum

Rum is a spirit made from the by-products of sugar production, sugar cane or molasses, which are fermented and then distilled. It is a subtle spirit which can be drunk neat or in cocktails. There are so many variations from the methods of distillation, to the aging process, that makes rum one of the most diverse and varied spirits. White rums are usually non-aged and often served with mixers, while old rums are aged in oak barrels for several years, resulting in a dark amber colour and often notes of vanilla, caramel or leather depending on the types of barrels used.
