A limited release, and slightly mellower version, of the iconic Islay single malt from Laphroaig. Originally released in 2015 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery, it was so well-received that they decided to release more! This 16-year-old has spent its life in ex-bourbon barrels, allowing for the whisky's smoky profile to soften over the years, rounded off by the vanilla notes from the American Oak. It was bottled at 48% abv without chill filtration or added colouring.
On the nose, sweet leather, oaky spices, vanilla and wood character mingle, followed by maple syrup, roasted chestnuts and a crack of black pepper. Flavours from the American oak shine through in the palate: sweet treacle, caramel, manuka honey, alongside Laphroaig's signature smoky flavours of creosote and salted seaweed. Expect a long finish here with plenty of smoky and sweet notes, and a hint of medicinal character.
