Heaven's Door was co-founded in 2018 by Bob Dylan and Marc Bushala, a spirits entrepreneur. Not only does the whiskey aspire to tell a story in a glass in the fashion of some of Dylan's finest records, but it also draws inspiration from other aspects of his art. Most obviously his metalwork, with each bottle featuring a different iron gate, designed and crafted by The Bard himself.
Quietly under development since 2017, Heaven’s Door distillery has been producing small batches of exceptional bourbon on its custom Vendome still since 2018. The distillery features two separate stillhouses, each in its own towering western horse barn, a Visitor’s Center with tasting rooms and lounges overlooking the valley and Six Mile Creek, an eighteenth-century grist mill, two eighteenth-century cabins and a Moravian barn, all of which have been painstakingly restored.
“I wanted to create a collection of American Whiskeys that, in their own way, tell a story. I’ve been traveling for decades, and I’ve been able to try some of the best whiskey spirits that the world has to offer. This is great whiskey.” - Bob Dylan
The iron gates showcased on bottles of Heaven’s Door Whiskey, were created by Bob Dylan at his metalworking shop, Black Buffalo Ironworks.
The distillery opens in Autumn 2024, in Pleasureville, Kentucky.
